Angel Kisses received national media attention after "Mini" Timmy Tyrrell, age 7, raised over $20,000 to support the fund. Why would he do this? His friend, Ella (age 6) battled brain cancer and his aunt introduced him to Angel Kisses. He was "sad" and wanted to do something to help, so he and his parents created Mini's Mission. As Mini so eloquently states on camera, his mission raises money to help "put cancer in the trash can." Monies raised from Angel Kisses are distributed toward groups that benefit families fighting childhood cancers. Charitable organizations benefitting from our efforts include:
- DC Candelighters - an organization of parents who have had a child with cancer who provide emotional, financial and educational support to other families fighting cancer. www.dccandlelighters.org
- Life with Cancer – offered through INOVA Health System, Life with Cancer enhances the quality of life for cancer patients and their families by providing education, information and support. www.inova.org/healthcare-services/life-with-cancer-program
- SuperSibs - reaches out to the brothers and sisters of over 12,600 children in the U.S. and Canada who are diagnosed with cancer each year. www.supersibs.org
- Special Love – gives children and young adults with cancer and their families a chance to enjoy normal childhood activities that healthy kids often take for granted. From week-long camps, like Camp Fantastic and BRASS Camp for siblings, to weekend retreats for families, teens, and young adults. www.speciallove.org
- Caringbridge – a free Carigbridge website helps keep family & friends informed of the patient’s progress. www.caringbridge.org
- Big Apple Circus Clown Care(SM) – a hospital clowning program offering laughter and joy to the bedsides of acutely and chronically ill children year round. www.bigappplecircus.org
- Colors of Love – enhances the hospital environment by painting rooms in different themed murals.
- Hopecam – connects homebound children undergoing cancer treatment and other life-threatening illnesses with friends at school using laptops, web cameras and high-speed internet connections. www.hopecam.org
- Give Kids the World - a 70-acre, non-profit resort in Central Florida that creates magical memories for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families. GKTW provides accommodations at its whimsical resort, donated tickets to theme parks, meals and activities for a week-long, cost-free fantasy vacation. www.gktw.org
- Teardrops to Rainbows – improves the quality of life of children with cancer and their families in the DC-metro area by providing support, services and financial assistance. Specifically focusing on helping families stay connected and better manage their day-to-day household responsibilities while supporting a cancer-stricken child. www. teardropstorainbows.org
